This project involved the supply, manufacture, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a comprehensive high-security perimeter system for a customer in Africa. The system combines robust 358 mesh fencing with a multi-zone electric fence, providing a formidable barrier against intrusion. The total fence length was 3700 meters, with a height of 2.4 meters for the 358 mesh and 3.4 meters for the integrated electric fence.
The 358 mesh fence was constructed using galvanized steel and finished with a durable RAL 6005 green PVC powder coating for enhanced corrosion resistance and aesthetics. The supporting posts consisted of 1600 x 80 x 60 x 4mm RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section) main posts and 50 x 80 x 60 x 4mm RHS posts, both equipped with 250 x 250 x 10mm base plates featuring M20 mounting holes for secure anchoring. Access was provided by 6 x 6 meter double swing gates, automated with heavy-duty mounting posts and robust 380Vac swing motors.
The integrated electric fence system, also finished in RAL 6005 green PVC powder coating (including the posts), was designed as a multi-zone system for enhanced security and monitoring capabilities. The insulators for the electric fence were specified in military green for improved camouflage and integration with the environment.
In addition to the main fence structure, the project included the supply of 300mm "Y" standard posts with four 10mm diameter holes spaced at 100mm centers. These "Y" posts were used to support 20,000 meters of 8mm diameter steel rope, further reinforcing the perimeter and providing additional layers of security along a 3700 meter length and 1600x1300 meter area, it's important to clarify if this means the area enclosed by the fence or the dimensions of a secondary fenced off area.
